Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have plenty of rainy days. As our girls get older, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to get through the weeks of wetness that regularly plague us during much of the year.
With restless little people cooped up indoors, I’m having to stretch my somewhat limited creative powers to come up with interesting activities to keep them busy and cheerful, (thank goodness for Pinterest inspirations!)
I went out last week and picked up some craft supplies and treats for getting through the rest of these rainy spring days.
We used a big Elmer’s pink foam poster board as Katie’s canvas and I let her loose with stickers and glittery pens.
She was delighted. We worked at trying to make some flowers together, but she told me pretty soon to make some flowers for her and she would make her own. By herself, thankyouverymuch.
I started by fighting off twitches to help her too much…but once I just relaxed and let her do her own thing, she had so much fun and was so excited to be working on a “craft!”
The only thing that finally tore her away (if only for a moment,) was the promised treat of TCBY frozen yogurt!
As I predicted, Katie went for the “pink ice cream!” first and only after being reminded that brown = chocolate did she request to have “a little bit of both, please!”
TCBY is a great choice for us as a treat, with it’s vitamins and probiotics, and my girls love it!
…and Victoria is ready for our next project made with a quality Elmer’s product: silly putty!
