Aden + Anais Dream Blanket Review {Lucky Clover Spotlight}

by Mama Chocolate on March 13, 2012

The Dream Blanket is not the first Aden + Anais product I have owned, and based on my previous experience, I knew to expect a quality product.

I was not disappointed! The Dream Blanket is made of quality, muslin material and it is so soft.

With Katie, our oldest, there never was a favorite “blankie”. She didn’t seem to have any preference whatsoever throughout her whole babyhood and even now into her toddler years, she switches “favorites” all the time.

Not so much with Victoria. When we got this blanket about two months ago, it did not take her long to latch onto it, and it is now very much her special blanket that she wants with her at bedtimes.

I love laying her down in her crib, draping this big, soft blanket over her and watching her little thumb go straight into her mouth. It definitely has a comforting effect for her.

From Aden + Anais:

“As a young woman growing up in Australia, our founder Raegan Moya-Jones was introduced to many traditional practices of motherhood. One of them in particular– swaddling babies in generously sized, gentle muslin sheets– amazed her. Even the fussiest babies seemed to sleep more peacefully in muslin. Despite the hot days and the cold nights, muslin swaddles helped keep babies comfortable. And, most importantly, the very act of swaddling seemed to build a bond between mothers and their babies.

When she moved to the U.S. and started her own family, Raegan couldn’t find any swaddles like the ones she remembered from home. The only swaddles available were too small. Or made of much-too-thick flannel. Or, simply, unattractive.

And so, aden + anais was born. And within months of hitting the market, aden + anais swaddles starting popping up in magazines, on blogs for new mothers, in virtually every celebrity gift registry, and in stores around the country.

Today, aden + anais, has brought the legacy of muslin together with fashion forward design to create a line of products that are as stylish as they are useful; and as simple as they are beautiful. We believe in muslin– the way it looks, the way it feels, the way it works– to improve the lives of babies and their mothers no matter who they are or where they live.

The proof is in every product we make.”

After using a few of their products, I cannot recommend muslin highly enough for baby at night. It is soft and gentle, breathable, keeps them warm in the chilly winter, yet cool during the summer heat.

While Victoria absolutely refused swaddling, it worked wonders for Katie’s sleeping habits when she was an infant, and I’m hoping that Baby #3 here cooperates better. The muslin swaddling blankets will be perfect for swaddling a little one during the August heat in our no-air-conditioning home.

"Star Light" Print

Features of the Dream Blanket:

  • Made of 4 layers of 100% cotton muslin
  • Generous size of 47″ x 47″, much larger than most baby blankets

I love the fact its made of 4 layers of Muslin Cotton!

Kammie March 16, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Sounds awesome!

Regan S March 16, 2012 at 9:59 pm

I love that it’s larger than most baby blankets. We’re at a point with my 16 month old son that baby blankets are too small but regular blankets are too big. This sounds like a perfect solution

The size sounds perfect! I’ve always found swaddling blankets too small once the baby passes the newborn stage. And all 4 of my babies loved to be swaddled. I would love to gift this to my cousin, for his firstborn due in July. If it’s as great as it sounds, it will become my go-to gift for baby showers!

erica g March 16, 2012 at 10:12 pm

My 3 mo old wiggles out of all the blankets i have, I would love to have such a generous sized one.

Natalie Derrigo McGilbery March 16, 2012 at 10:21 pm

I love that this blanket is made of four layers yet won’t
overheat the baby. My daughter is 15 months old and
loves to drag blankets all over the house with her. This
sounds perfect!

Elissa Dinell March 16, 2012 at 11:06 pm

I love the brand Aiden and Anais! My daughter has been swaddled in their blankets since birth and she’s approaching 6 months. This would be great for her to have as her special blanket.

{Not Quite} Susie Homemaker March 17, 2012 at 1:00 am

This is so cute! I need to get Shane something like this- he doesn’t have a “lovey” & when I was a tot mine was my blankey so Shane needs one too :)

If I win, I’d probably save it away for when I’m pregnant again. I have {yet} to try an Aden + Anais product, but right now don’t really have the need. I like how this is a bigger blanket. My daughter was almost 10 lbs. at birth, so if I continue to have bigger babies, I’ll want this.
