Okay, so I’m really getting impatient here to meet our new little one. I’ve done just about every project in the house that sounds remotely possible in this heat. Things are relatively clean, (actually, remarkably clean for what is usual around here!)
The birth kit is ready. The baby clothes are washed and set out. The teeny-tiny little newborn cloth diapers are all sitting in a cute little stack (miniature fluff! *squee!*) The co-sleeper is set up and ready for a tiny little swaddled “burrito baby” (assuming this baby is more cooperative about swaddling than my last little munchkin was!)
My freezer is stuffed to bursting with meals for the weeks after delivery, (I’m actually starting to dive into this stash already…who wants to cook anything in 100+ degree weather when you’re monstrously pregnant?!)
Our bedroom carpet is even shampooed and the dust ruffle for our bed has been washed, ironed and put back on finally after sitting stuffed in a cupboard somewhere for months ’cause I didn’t want to mess with it.
The nesting definitely hit full force, and I’M DONE. I’m ready for this baby to arrive!
In an attempt to keep me amused and away from the brink of insanity while I wait, I have decided to run a little guessing game here.
We don’t know who this baby is. Yup, we’re old fashioned. Yup, you could never do it. You’re too much of a control freak or you just need to be able to plan ahead. (We’ve heard it all, LOL.)
It seems to be amazingly rare now to not take a peek at the gender of your baby. I’ll admit, I have been super tempted. I’m really starting to go nuts not knowing who this little person is.
But I love that moment of discovery at the end of labor. The anticipation and excitement do a lot to help me welcome labor and get through the long hours of work to get our children on the outside and into our arms.
So, I’m asking you to take a guess. Will this third child of ours be a boy or a girl? Are we going to have three precious little girls or is a little brother going to get tossed into the mix here?
First, a little history:
What about this pregnancy?!
Gender: This time, I am still going with my gut feeling of BOY. I would say that I am about 85% sure this time around that we’re about to welcome a little man into the house.
I base this feeling partly on minor differences in the pregnancy: I felt much sicker at the beginning than I did with the girls, and the baby has been incredibly active from very early on, (even now, at almost 40 weeks, is almost ridiculously so.)
Another thing that has me leaning towards boy: on my side of the family, we have only had granddaughters/nieces up until this year. After 4 girls, both of the babies born into our “clan” this year so far have been boys. I’m thinkin’ they could use another little boy cousin to help them keep from being too outnumbered.
Almost everyone I know or have met that make a guess at who is in there, simply based on how I am carrying, have said it’s a boy for sure. I have no idea whether to put any stock in this method of prediction…seems a little far-fetched to me, but who knows?!
If you base your predicitions on how a woman carries, I have provided the above profile for you to determine our fate.
This photo was taken yesterday, Wednesday, Aug 15, at 39 weeks, 2 days gestation.
(Also, if that belly pops out *any* farther, I’m pretty sure I will not be able to walk without falling over.)
Birthday: My due date is Sunday, August 19th. At this point, I am putting my guess on going into labor late Friday night and having the baby sometime on Saturday, (Aug 18.) Mostly because this would be super convenient for almost everyone involved. Both of my previous births have at least started on a weekend, which comes in handy for having the hubby around. I’ve never had to decide if it was “the real thing” to determine if he should come home from work…since he was already home!
Also, August 18th sounds like a nice birthday. I like even numbers.
I have had irregular contractions come and go for the past two weeks, (ever since I held my brand-new, uber-adorable nephew!) and today I asked my midwife to check things. Baby is nice and low at 0 station, settled in a comfortable and ready-to-go LOA position, and I’m 2.5 cm dilated.
This was pretty encouraging to me, since especially in the last few days I have had some pretty painful contractions that felt like they should be going somewhere or doing something. Apparently, they have! With my previous two pregnancies, I never had any noticeable contractions until the actual day of delivery, and it took me a good 3-5 hours of definite labor to get that far dilated. My midwife has me scheduled for another appointment on Tuesday, but is fairly certain I won’t make it until then – I certainly don’t plan to.
So, there you have it!
Are you ready to make a guess?
If you’re right, this lovely sight will appear in your inbox soon!
Remember…even if you don’t have fortune-telling powers, you still have a chance to make out on this game…one completely random person is going to get a $10 gift card, just for playing along!

I guessed by the shape of your belly parts, of course! Everybody knows it’s the scientific way of doing things. I have 3 girls and 2 boys. We let #5 be a surprise, but I was pretty sure she was a girl. I like Madeline for a girl and Christopher for a boy. I don’t know why. I just like them.

I was thinking girl for the longest time, but after you saying that about being sick, them being active & after seeing how you’re carrying, I say boy! &Even before I got to the part where you said late Friday/early Saturday that was my guess, too- although I think that’s when they’ll be actually born, not when labor will start! Either way I’ll be checking for updates!! <3

I think its gonna be a boy just because you have 2 girls already. :]
just because I really think it is a boy this time.. you need a boy.

I think your new lil’ boys name will begin with the letter J. Maybe Jason, or Jeremy…
I guessed boy because I want it to be a boy! LOL! You guys need more testosterone around that house, and having 3 boys and a girl of my own, I think every mom should get to experience having children of both genders in the family!

Congrats I hope you get your boy. I have the opposite two boys and want my third to be a girl so good luck. I hope labor is fast and pain free as possible.
I guessed GIRL first. Then I subscribed and the captcha said “boyarm” so I changed my guess to BOY.
lol. 22nd because my birthday is on a 22.
I guessed boy because I am going with your gut. You had a feeling that K was going to be a girl and even though you thought V would be a boy, you eventually got a feeling that baby would be a girl and she was…
I think it’ll be a boy just because you have 2 girls already… so why not, LOL. Noooo clue on the name. Heck, we are having the worst time coming up with a boy name ourselves. The girl name has been picked since I was preggo with Oliver though.

I have seen my sis and cousins having Big tummy when they had boy baby as compared to having a girl, and boy babies add more glow. So my guess is a “BOY” and love the name “Aden- meaning “One who Brings Pleasure” ..Goodluck for the expected day..God bless you with a smooth and painless delivery and a healthy baby
I think boy because you are carrying kinda low, can’t wait to hear HIS name and see pictures!
I guess that your baby will be born on it’s birthday and that it will be a beautiful girl or boy! HAHA I win!
I love your girls names. I guessed boy bc i’m going with your gut LOL. Gabriel?
Every pokey belly I’ve seen like yours resulted in a beautiful little girl. A couple of names I like are Linnea for a girl and Ettienne for a boy
I guessed girl since your story is so much like mine! Even though I may be wrong and do hope it’s a boy for you! I had 2 daughters and became pregnant with our 3rd child. I felt the whole time it was a boy, (was secretly hoping too!) even the pregnancy felt different, but we welcomed our 3rd baby girl
We check out the Chines birth chart, eerily correct with many births but fun to do. We have checked every person we know who has ever had or having a baby and so far only 2 have been wrong. Since I didnt know your age we went with oy since more boys were conceived during the month of November.
I think you’re going to have another girl! =] No real reasoning behind, just a guess. The only thing I’ve heard about guessing the gender is that boys tend to carry low & I don’t think you are (but I’m not positive). &&& As far as a name….*that’s a toughie*…I’d say…maybe Bethany Jane =] *Just thought of it…sounds kind of cute – lol* But Good Luck! I hope when you do go into labor everything goes well!! *Thanks for the giveaway!* =]]
I say Boy and he will be born sunday
I’m going with boy because that’s your gut feeling. The last three guesses I made for others were right, but I generally made those LONG before baby was due.
I like William, but I’m a classic names kinda girl.
I guessed just for fun, based solely on my “gut feelings”. My guess for a boy name is Edward (Jaxon was my gut guess, but after reading your girl’s names I think you’d be more inclined to go with Edward) and a girl name is Emily or Amelia.

I guessed boy because our mama instincts are usually right and that’s what you feel the baby is! And I’m saying John Thomas for his name
.

Can’t use the rafflecopter form…so hopefully this suffices! I’m guessing Boy and August 22nd and….you look fabulous! Hang in there! For a name, hmmmm…Justice?
I really don’t know what you are having or when….because I am horrible at guessing! I was utterly convinced that my third girl would be a boy because there were so many differences..starting with the fact that I had morning sickness with her and I never did with any of the others. Um…nope. She is just my most girly girl! My 4th pregnancy was almost the exact same as with her…and I had a boy!
I guessed boy – just a feeling and I have 5 of them myself so they’re fun
I said girl bc your family seems to have a lot of girls, plus your story sounds exactly like my friend who was convinced her 3rd was going to be a girl (she already has 2 boys), but she had a third boy yesterday morning (in her bathroom at home, no less, because he was in such a rush). Blessings on your family either way!
I guessed girl because I was convinced my second was going to be a boy (except for one dream I had in the third trimester), and when the baby was born on our bathroom floor 4 weeks ago, I found out she was a girl! Two of my sisters had and are having boys this year, so maybe you’ll break the trend there, too.
I guessed a boy because a mother’s intuition is usually right!
I guess boy…and I’m going to go with you’ll go in labor on the 18th and have him the 19th.
I’m guessing boy…. but I don’t have a reason….. just that gut feeling! And I am so ridiculously excited to find out the name

I say girl! I hope it’s a boy, since you have 2 girls already, but I was sicker with my girl. Just a guess really
I gused boy. up and the raffle thing but mabey down here I should put Girl so then I am right:) I knew a doc. that did that would tell you one thing and wright down another so when it was born and they asked he would show then no its writen down as a …. when he was right no one ask to look. I thing the name is Joshua James.
My guess is a boy, for the simple reason that you look like I did with my DS! We did not find out gender, either! (And we won’t for future bebes.) I’m thinking Monday, 8/20, just because.
As far as name? Haven’t a clue! But it will be fun to find out!
I said boy since I have a boy and he is so sweet. My name guess is Alexander since your other children have classic names too.
The odds just seem better for a boy this time!
I’m going against the grain and picking a girl. I carried my girls high so that’s why I’m picking a girl. lol Of course it’d be so fun to have a boy thrown into the mix. So excited to find out!

Need a little boy…Thomas!
i guessed a boy beacuse it looks like a boy belly! also it would be nice for you to have a boy. as far as names go. im guessing for a girl-isabella and a boy-ethan or nathaniel. no clue why of course
I am predicting a boy… A little junior to complement the lil girls you already have. I would love for you to have a boy and not end up like me with 3 of the same gender. I have 3 sons and have been looking for the girl. I said Aug 20th because you are still a little high and would recommend some walking to induce it… good luck with whatever your healthy baby’s gender is. I am super excited at the birth of any baby… boy or girl! God bless you in labor & delivery!
I said boy b/c I had two girls, then a supposed to be girl that came out a BOY!! Both girls were easy,no sickness at all. With the last one, I was sick til the end and miserable the whole time!
I dunno really why I guessed boy. I looked at the picture and my first thought was “boy”. However, the date that I guess was ‘cuase your first was born Sunday, 2nd Monday, so 3rd should be Tuesday… At least it worked that way for me
i think you’re going to name him henry, why not? it’s a great name!
I guessed boy because that is your gut feeling. I am also waiting to find out and have about 10 more days to go…so exciting! I love seeing that there are others out there that still enjoy the wait and surprise!
I like the name John Jacob but without knowing the last name it’s kinda hard to decide if it would flow.
I chose boy. I just had a boy so that is some of the reason. Also it sounds like you really want a boy, so I hope you get what you want.
I loved the names Colin and Sean for my son, but ultimately chose Porter.
I love the name Ellie for a little girl and someday when I have my little princess that will be her name
Boy, because the baby is super active. I’m due with my second son in October, and both were super active all along!
I guessed GIRL because after two girls is the ONLY time you are statistically more likely to have a girl than a boy. Only by a little bit, but I’ll guess with what’s most likely. When I’ve been pregnant some of my ‘feelings’ have been right and some have been wrong. By the way, I have three lovely babies, all of whom were a surprise gender at birth!
My guess is a boy.
The reason I think that way is because what you said about your pregnancy being different than the others. That’s really all the information that went behind my guess, haha.
I guess because you seem to be all belly
I guessed boy because of how you are carrying.

I’m saying that you are having a boy because I think that a womans gut feeling on this is almost always right!
Boy!
You look SO great first of all! And i’m guessing a boy this time… I think for a name maybe Jacob?
I’m guessing a boy and maybe going into labor around 2am the morning of Aug. 18 get ready and your bags packed…lol
This is fun! When I was pregnant with my second boy, someone told me she heard if the first two are the same gender, it’s more likely the third will be too, then the fourth might break the pattern. So I’m going with girl!
I think its a boy because you are carrying him lower. I think you might name him Michael
I just went with my gut and said boy
I like the name Oliver!

Guessed boy because that is what the mama is feeling, and mama usually knows
I’m guessing girl. I don’t know why, I just went with my gut feeling. I’m excited to find out the name!
I guess girl and you’ll name her Jacqueline. That’s my name, my last daughters name, my grandmothers name, cousins, a few aunts… ect …. you get the idea. lol
I had 2 boys and when I was pregnant for my 3rd I was so sure it was a girl…but that was not to be. I had another boy for a grand total of 3. Everyone else said he was a girl too. We were all sure but we were wrong which is why I think you are having a girl. Not very scientific of me is it? All the best!
Guessed a boy-you are the same shape as a good friend who was pregnant a few years ago-and ended up having a boy!!
There are so many great names out there any more!! I know you will pick a suitable one for the new one:)
I guessed girl because I’m from a NBG (Nothin’ but girls) family and it was a blast.
I guessed boy because you have that gut feeling, and a boy would be so nice now, even though girls are sweet too. I have 7 boys and 1 girl now. I too am pregnant and my due date is August 31, unless you go by the “new” due date of the ultrasound computer, which is now, your due date, the 19th. This baby is a girl. I “had” to know. I have 7 boys you know….. I do not think I will have this baby by the 19th though. You are way readier than I….Take care and rest, you will need it. Eat pineapples!
I guessed boy, b/c of your mama’s intuition.
Oh, and my guess is Andrew for the name.
I’m guessing a third girl just because of am the youngest girl of 3 and it’s fun.

I said girl because..well I don’t know! LOL I have 50/50 chance of being right. I said August 18th, because you are so close to your due date! With my first, I went into labor one day before my due date! Good luck with your labor!!
Name him Judah.
I’m guessing boy because I trust your guts. I think a sturdy traditional name like Jacob or Johnathon would fit nicely with your girls’ names.
My guess is boy! You said that your little one is super active and I’m pregnant with a super active little boy…so there’s my reasoning, haha!
Also, your cute belly looks like it has a boy in there.
For a name, I’ll guess Benjamin

I guessed boy based on your gut instinct, it is often accurate!
I guessed boy because that’s what you said you think you’re having!
I guessed boy because that is what you said you think you are having and when most pregnant women have a feeling about what they are having, they are right. My cousin is pregnant with baby #2 and she had a feeling the baby was a girl. Found out a few weeks ago that it is a girl!
I guess boy … because every baby that has been born lately around me has been a boy

I don’t know if it’s “ethical” to allow one of the apprentice midwives to guess, but I’ve only seen you two or three times this pregnancy, so figure I am pretty much out of the loop. Girl. 2 already, hubby’s on a roll!

I am thinking boy, and maybe Evan? I don’t know….but I am super excited to find out! =-)
I guess a boy! As for a name….I guess Liam. I also don’t know what I am having in 5 weeks. It is fun not knowing! This is my first and I really have no idea!!
I say girl because its always room for another. Maybe you will get your boy next.
I guessed boy because it looks like you are carrying high and protrude more. And from what I’ve heard, girls are more low and are carried more in the hips. This is just what I heard, I have no idea if it’s true. I hope I’m right though!
As for the name, I’ll say Blake. Just a wild guess.
kimbuckjr
I think it will be a girl. BROOKE would be a great name for her! Family friends of ours have 3 girls, Katie, Victoria, and Brooke
Your carrying up front that usually means a boy.
No theory. I just think it’s going to be a boy because you’ll need a little testosterone to mellow out all the estrogen when your girls hit the teenage years.
You look so amazingly beautiful and calm!! <3 you and miss you! I'm looking forward to seeing those pictures!

congratulations!
I just guessed a girl without using any of your information. I think three little girls would be so cute. I think her name will begin with a J, perhaps Jennifer or Jacqueline.
I think and know you are so right in waiting until the baby is born to know the gender. Having done that myself 3 times I can honestly say it really does add to the joy . Plus it is more fun to announce along with the name. Sure you will be glowing !
I guessed girl because I just had my third girl.
I didn’t find out with her, either. I definitely prefer it that way. My husband likes to know, so for the even numbered kids we’ll find out, but with the odd numbered kids we won’t. I’m going to guess Annabelle for a name, because that was one that I considered. (We went with Susannah.) I hope it goes well for you!!
You can go ahead and have the baby on my birthday, Aug 27th. I think it’s a boy, just because it has to be one or the other, and I have no idea. As for the name, I can’t even figure out what to name my own baby and I’m due September 25th
I guess a boy cause odds are after the two girls
I guess you are having a boy because your belly is pointed and carrying low. Also, having two girls, I think you are having a boy simply because it is true for me.
I just went with my gut feeling on the gender I guessed.
Momma always knows best so I am going with BLUE!
I think your having a boy simply because yiu have a feeling your having a boy because it feels different this time around. I had that same feeling with my recent baby. I felt like he was a boy right from the beginning. A mother always knows.
I guessed a boy based on personal experience. My boy was super active and my family has a trend with two girls and one boy.
My grandparents (moms side) had two girls and one boy.
My parents have two girls and one.
My aunt on moms side has two girls and one boy.
One of my first cousins has two girls and one boy.
Sorry but I said Girl! My sister ended up with 3 girls. I have my one and most my family is girls as well. But I wish you a healthy happy baby over all. Gender is of no real importance.
I like the name Faith Hope. But I doubt you’ll use it.

I guessed boy b/c I think it’d be nice to have one after two girls!
we are on baby #2 and he’s a boy and our first was a girl! hope you are blessed with a healthy baby either way!

I guessed a boy (possibly named Benjamin Michael) for no particular reason, other than, as Katie and Victoria get older, they will need a big brother (yes, even though he is younger, he will be bigger than them one day) to protect them and defend their honor. I know, it’s hard to think that far ahead right now, but trust me, it comes way to0 fast. Enjoy these years now!! Your little girls are adorable!
I guessed boy, mostly because I’m hoping that’s what you get! having little brothers are fun, so that is why. Super accurate way of predicting, I know. =)

So, do you have a bunch of boy clothes in case its a boy? Whats your strategy on that? Sometimes I think about letting #3 be a surprise but I worry about the clothes. Maybe if #3 is a boy than #4 can be a surprise!

I guess that your baby will be boy, because my cousin is having a boy.
I guessed girl, don’t really know why just think so, and the active part you talked about just had my 3rd baby in Jan. and she was very active and I was so sick with her, and bad heart burn.
I think it will be a girl and you will name it Sidney.
I’m guessing that you will have a boy as I had a boy after 2 girls and I think you will as well;) I think either his first or middle name will be John.
I think the way you are carrying it is a boy. Also, you said the pregnancy is totally different than your girls. And you yourself said your 85% sure it’s a boy.
Since you are carrying differently I think it’s a boy. Also since the activity level is different….
I guessed girl because of the way you are showing, looked just like i did when pregnant with girl. J Wresh
Charles-boy Madeline-girl
are you naming the baby boy Andrew?
I just guessed on the gender as I have no clue how those tales work. lol. My daughter is due in 4 weeks and they are having such trouble with names. I like earthy names like Cedar and Sage, Willow, Aubrey…
Have a great delivery! And thanks for the giveaway! cokelush at gmail

No scientific reason or theory but I think it’s a boy! Your girls need a brother to watch out for them and they need a little brother to watch over too! LOL For the name, I’m going with either Christopher, Michael or Gabriel.
I’m guessing hte baby’s name will be Anthony. I like that name
Or Caden.
i was just reading your story and thought boy right away.
I guessed girl just because around me everyone I know is having a girl and there are a lot of girls being born. Even the unlikely like my family. We have 6 boys and haven’t had a girl on my husband’s side in over 70 years. Well we just had a girl 6 weeks ago. Either way they are a great blessing! Congratulations and pray all goes well.
Congratulations, all the best for the future.
I love that sunset picture!
