Bummas Cloth Wipes Review

by Mama Chocolate on June 11, 2012

Another generous sponsor of the Fluffy Butts Cloth Diaper giveaway hop, Bummas is giving the lucky winner a set of their premium cloth wipes in Mama Chocolate’s fluffy giveaway prize package! Comment on this post for extra entries into that giveaway!

How Bummas got started:

The creation of Bummas came about when we had our first baby boy. When your first arrives, you are given all kinds of advice:
“Use the wet commercial wipes, don’t use the wet commercial wipes, use gauze; use whatever is handy to block the pee; use another diaper to block the pee; don’t use that, use this; use powder to dry them off, don’t use powder-it contains talc and studies have linked talc to cancer.”
The one thing that was never mentioned was how to dry our little guy’s “stuff” off after the clean up. Our baby’s bum was just way too wet to put a diaper back on–and blowing down there until you’re blue in the face just wasn’t working. Thus Bummas were born. A soft absorbent, luxurious baby cloth to soak up all the wetness.

*review by Katelyn F

After these Bummas wipes arrived I had some doubts about them because they didn’t feel very absorbent. However, after one wash I’ve had a lot of fun with them ever since! My babies always have wet bums after a wet diaper. Just wiping leaves them still wet, and that just increases the rashes. My homemade wipes don’t dry very well, and are rather rough, anyway. These are luxuriously soft, and it surprised me how with just gentle pats everything got dry!

This is the Wild set. I must confess, I am an as-bright-as-possible type, so these colors thrilled me!

The Routine:

Grab a Bumma cloth wipe before opening the diaper. Sneak “attacks” are frequent and will happen the second you open the diaper! Place the Bumma over the privates while tending to the other parts.

One Bumma will soak up an entire pee. Clean up baby with a regular wipe or wet a Bumma and clean up sensitive skin.

Use another Bumma to thoroughly dry baby off. Re-diaper. If the cover Bumma gets soaked rinse it off and throw it in the wash. The payoff- a dry bum, no diaper rash, and no surprise squirts. Save money on diapers, and save by not having to buy powder, and ointment.

They are 5×7, which is as big as my hand, so that was nice. When I go to clean a really dirty bum, I like a big wipe. But unlike the throw-away kind, these are thick and don’t let things through! I haven’t had to ward off a sneak attack from my baby boy with these yet (just watch, now that I’ve said that it’ll happen!), but I’m sure these could handle it.

It was hard to start using them for awhile because my daughters liked the ‘soft cloths’ so much that they promptly absconded with them!

Bummas recently won the well-deserved Parent Tested Parent Approved Award!

You can purchase set of 10 wipes for $15.00 each directly from the Bummas website.

I love that they are absorbent so that you can use them to avoid little squirters. I also love the bright colors. and that they are a green wipe I have always thought if you are going to cloth diaper why not use cloth wipes

Great idea! I’m having a boy and am scared of the sneak attacks during diaper changing. I never though to do that.

Bummas are soft absorbent, luxurious baby cloths that soak up all the wetness before putting on the diaper. They look sooo soft!

I have been so afraid to make my own diapering stuff although I am a huge diy fan I am just terrified that the things i need wont actually work if i make my own. Most of the time I cant beat the cost savings of doing it myself but with these I feel it is a perfect blend of saving money and getting something that works well!

I love just how big the wipes are, and the fact that they look very soft. I would love to try these as traditional wipes do not always get all the pooh off my daughter’s bum.

I really like how soft they are. I usually wet my wipes to clean with, so the softness comes from the moisture most of the time, but the wipes I use to dry with I like to be fluffy soft :)

These are great! Cloth wipes are really the best. I won’t use regualar baby wipes because of all the chemicals.

I love the shape of these wipes. All our current wipes are square and don’t fit into our wipes warmer as well as I would like

I wasn’t thinking of doing cloth wipes as well as the cloth diapers, but the more and more reviews I see like this….the more I’m starting to change my mind!

These look so soft and I like the colors too. I think they are too small for cleaning up poopy messes, but would be awesome to use for little messy faces.

Audrey Jensen June 14, 2012 at 7:11 pm

I see so many more uses too, once the diapering phase is over!

I haven’t ventured into the world of cloth wipes yet, but these seem so easy to use and seem like a great size to get the job done!

Their little color bundles are cute! I like having a variety. I only have 2 types of cloth wipes atm. I would love to try these out!

I love that they are super abosrbent (enough to hold one pee!)! I normally use a baby washcloth with my little man to prevent getting sprayed, and to pat dry his bum dry… but they don’t work well and absorbing all of the wetness when he pees during the diaper change! Would love to try these!!

I use cloth wipes regularly and have some that I prefer over others because of their absorbancy or softness but these look like they offer the best of both worlds. I would love to try them!
