For months, I have been using an old plastic dishwasher-soap bucket to collect our kitchen scraps.
I hated it: it was ugly and faded and plastic and the lid was very difficult to pry off and snap back on. I kept it in a corner on the floor because it was so unsightly. Unfortunately, I am lazy enough, that these factors kept me from actually using it as often as I intended.
I needed something pretty that was easy to use. I knew I wanted to be able to open and close it with one hand…I often came to my old bucket with one hand holding a cutting board of scraps and then had to set it down again to be able to pry the lid open.
This beautiful stainless steel compost pail from Clean Air Gardening is perfect for collecting food scraps for your compost pile or chickens, (as is our case!)
Now it’s fun to compost, instead of a drag, and I feel like it’s a nice counter element that I don’t mind showing off!
The stainless steel compost pail has a carbon filter to keep any smells contained when the lid is closed, and a handle to easily carry it outside to the compost bin. The fluted, polished body is made of durable 18/8 stainless steel, is dishwasher safe, and holds 1 gallon of kitchen scraps and other organic materials.
