How to Get Free Children’s Clothing from thredUP!

by Mama Chocolate on September 18, 2012

I’m crawling out from under my rock and finding all sorts of fun things lately, and one of them is FREE clothes for my girls from thredUP! This is a brilliant system for getting excellent used condition clothing and then, if you like, earning more credit by passing along your children’s unneeded or outgrown clothes!

When I was told about it, it sounded too good to be true, but I had the free $10 credit you get when you sign up, and the credit can be used towards shipping charges, which meant I could get something small, shipped to my house, 100% free.

(UPDATE: A reader was making an order and apparently they have changed their policy, so that you cannot use your credit towards shipping anymore, so be aware of this when ordering! Orders over $40 will get free shipping.)

I picked out this cute, frilly Circo skirt for Katie,($3.49 + shipping made it just under $10)  and it just came yesterday. Meanwhile, I had started telling people about it, and as they signed up and ordered things, I got a $10 credit for each one of them, meaning I now had $60 in credit to spend!

Quality, Brand-Name Clothing!

Last night, I drooled through the huge selection of little girls’ dresses, especially the Gymboree, Tea Collection, Hanna Andersson brands, (thredUP makes it super easy to filter through the sizes, gender, brands and categories of clothing!)

With my $60 credit, I was able to get these 4 very nice dresses for Katie in sizes 4 and 5, sizes that she will fit in now or need soon. Two of the dresses were even new, with tags!

Three of these are Gymboree, and one is Hanna Andersson, quality brands that I usually can’t afford to buy (at least in this condition!) when I know Katie is going to outgrow them in just a few months.

How much did I pay? A big, whopping $0.00.

With my first order (the little skirt), they also sent along a prepaid shipping bag for me to put any outgrown/unused clothing (it must be in like-new condition) and ship back to them if I choose. Once they have processed this bag, I will get my choice of a Paypal payment or thredUP credit! I’ve already gathered quite a few things that just don’t get worn around here, but that I haven’t had the time to figure out how to sell, and I’ll be shipping that off soon!

Do you want free (or super cheap!) brand-name clothes for your kids too?

Get started with the $10 credit for signing up and pair it with the promo code FAN10 to get 10% off your order! (Code can only be used once per customer.)

Then, spread the word and start telling all your friends! Each one of them that makes an order puts $10 more credit into your account!

Happy shopping!

Can you buy individual clothing items on thredUP now? Last time I looked, it was only boxes of clothing. I will have to check it out again!

Yes, apparently they have changed it. I remember seeing it a long time ago when they only did boxes, and I was turned off by that. I love it now!

But now they won’t buy clothes for kids under 12 months. So not worth it now.
