Mama C here is starting to go a little nuts with the clutter that seems to come along with kids, especially toddlers.

Toys, toys and more TOYS. While I am grateful that my girls get to enjoy the luxury of plenty of play-things, it can become overwhelming to have 1,851 little pieces to shovel back into tubs all the time.

We are on a de-cluttering mission, and toys that have more uses and are fun for a wider age range are the ones that get to stay.

The Animal Adventure Learning Table from LeapFrog ($44.99) fits my new requirements!

  • It’s interesting to a wide age range
Suggested for 6 months to 3 years
  • It’s educational
Teaches numbers, shapes, colors, ABC’s, opposites, animals and motor skills. Parents even have the option of connecting online with LeapFrog’s Learning Path for customized learning insights to help their children get the most out of it
  • It can’t be lost easily
Katie’s favorite fairy toy is 2 inches tall and we are constantly sending out search parties for her!
  • It stores easily
The legs easily snap on and off

I was hoping that this toy would even be something that the girls could play with together without fighting over it, but apparently that was a bit much to ask, even from this table. Katie pushes a button to start a song and then Victoria pushes another button and starts a different song. Completely unacceptable to Katie, of course.

I’m hoping as the novelty wears off a bit, one of them can play with it without the other immediately rushing over to “interfere,” and the squabbling will subside.

I often let one of them play with it during their morning “quiet time” and it keeps them entertained for a nice long time. I think for younger babies (Victoria is almost 2 now,) it will be even more fascinating and occupy them longer. I am looking forward to seeing Elanora enjoy it when she is a bit older. I love how you can take the legs off and set it right on the ground at a younger baby’s level so easily.

This is very cute and does quite a bit. I like that the legs come off for storage when necessary.

Those are great requirements for toys ~ I think we need to implement your plan! I love the wide age range of this toy.

I’m with you! It’s so nice to declutter and when you have a toy that has multiple uses or can be used by more than just one child, that’s a total keeper. As for LeapFrog, they’re a great company and my older boys love their hand held devices!

You must have read my mind on the toy clutter, LOL. I have been so stressed by all of the toys in our house lately. I like the idea of finding toys that offer a broader age range (and the fact that this toy stores easily is a plus, too!). Thanks for the great review :).
