One of my favorite things about getting to visit friends in their own homes is getting to look at the photos and memories displayed on their fridges.
Of course, there are those boring people who have to keep the fronts of their fridges clean.
I’m not one of them, and actually have to hold myself back from plastering everything up there, and occasionally must reorganize the photos and magnets to keep it from being too cluttery, just for my poor husband’s sanity.
As I work in the kitchen, I love seeing things like Christmas photos, (there are two of ours up there from past years’ cards) and reminiscing about when Katie was just a tiny little baby, (it seems like last week, not 3 years, ago!)
We have a group photo up there from Grandy’s last big birthday party bash before she passed away almost two years ago and a photo of her with little Katie, (taken at cousin Ruby’s baby shower!) Since Victoria wasn’t even born and Katie was too little to be able to remember her now, I like having a picture of her up there, so they know who she was, (especially since we named Victoria partly after her!)
One of my favorite things about photos on the fridge is how it helps me to remember to pray for those friends and family. When I see the family photo of our dear friends there, (taken shortly after their fourth child was born,) I remember to pray (as she has requested!) for Amanda’s patience and sanity as she raises her energetic little ones in the tiny basement apartment that is their home for now until they find the perfect house!
The adorable picture of my brother with his sweet little son reminds me to pray for their whole family and the daily little struggles they have, raising three little ones, all 3-years-old and under!
There are more than memories on my fridge, too!
Usually there are a few wedding invitations up there, and right now, a save the date magnet for the family reunion coming up for my mom’s extended family.
We’re all really looking forward to this reunion…we’ve never had one for this branch of family, in my life-time anyway. I’ll get to meet some family members for the first time and share memories together with folks we haven’t seen in years!
Our summer is already filling up with amazing memories to be made!
