For weeks I’ve been meaning to start this and link up over at Happenings of the Harper Household.
Danielle over there and I are literally a couple days apart in our due dates…and she keeps taunting me with how she always comes a week or more early with her babies.
Danielle, I’m going to hate you when you’re snuggling a sweet little baby and I’m still huge and fat and pregnant in sweltering August in our non-air-conditioned house!
But, I digress.
14 Weeks Preggo!
Apologies for my severed top half…this was a timed self-portrait, so I had some issues getting my whole body in there and finally gave up.
Symptoms - Lately, the biggest symptom is TIRED. It is getting a bit better, I occasionally feel approximately 75% human instead 0.0004% alive like it was.
Morning sickness is completely gone, (yay!) unless I don’t eat for too long or when I eat very much sweet stuff.
Heartburn. Yup, it’s here already, and is probably just going to keep getting worse until this baby makes his/her exit. Yuck.
Weight Gain - Um. I’m not telling you my weight. You would be too jealous. *snort*
But I will tell you that I started out by losing 5 pounds and then by the end of the 2nd trimester I’d gained that back and now I’m up about 3 pounds. I’m definitely getting a little baby-bump there! It’s kind of at that awkward stage where, (in most of my outfits,) it just looks like I may have a little “extra” in the middle there. A few more weeks and random people will start congratulating me and asking me how far along I am and if we know if it’s a boy or girl. (No, we don’t find out ahead. “What?! Oh my word, I would never have the patience, I have to know.” LOL)
Cravings – Pot pies, popcorn, and PIZZA. (Real healthy, right? I craved things like green bell peppers and salad when I was pregnant with Katie, can we go back to that?!)
Pizza is pretty much the only thing that has sounded good to me every single time I thought of it. Other things come and go…one day they sounds great and I MUST have them, and the next day, (usually right after I’ve stocked up on whatever it is,) it doesn’t sound remotely interesting.
Food Aversions - It totally varies. Pretty much the only consistent thing is eggs in the morning. If I eat something else first, I can usually then eat them okay, (not love them, but eat them.)
What made me cry this week - Nothin! I actually tend to be more emotionally balanced when pregnant. Go figure. Really sweet/sad things will still sometimes get me. The scene when Rapunzel returns to her parents made me pretty sniffly last week. It always gets me…I think partly because that king and queen look a lot like what John and I could look like at that age, and then I start thinking how horrible it would be to have someone kidnap one of my baby girls and never see her for that many years…and that’s when I get emotional.
Medical Stuff – Nothin’ to report! I had an appointment with my midwife last week, and everything looks good!
Thoughts from the Girls: Victoria (15mo) has no clue. She totally flipped out when the midwife used the Doppler on my tummy to find Baby’s heartbeat. I think she thought they were doing something horrible to me when it started making that noise, LOL!
Katie (almost 3) is super excited, especially since her new little cousin, Calvin was born, (first baby boy in the whole clan.) She is now fully convinced that we should have a “baby brother,” and that his name should be Stephen. (One of her friends has a baby brother named Stephen.)
Something I am excited about - I can’t wait to find out who this little person is! After my sister-in-law finally having a boy, (they also have two girls,) and another sister-in-law pregnant…I think it would be awesome for all of us to have boys this year. A whole crowd of little boy cousins, yes? It would be awesome.
Plus, one of these days, I want people to start finding out our boy names! (We keep them all uber secret.)
I’m also very excited about starting to feel movement soon! A couple weeks ago, when I was trying to get to sleep, I am almost certain that I felt little flutters in there…can’t wait to feel them regularly! It’s one of my most favorite parts of pregnancy.
Head over to Happenings of the Harper Household to check out the rest of our baby stories and if you’ve got a little bun in the oven and want to write about it, be sure to link up!
