Radio Flyer 4-in-1 Grow-With-Me Tricycle Review

by Mama Chocolate on December 13, 2011

From 9 months to 5 years old, the Radio Flyer 4-in-1 Grow-With-Me Tricycle converts from a stroller to a steering trike, learning-to-ride trike and finally a classic, sturdy trike and will bring years of riding enjoyment  for your children!

We gave this to Victoria for her 1st birthday last month, and she was thrilled. After toodling around inside the house for a week or two, the weather finally got nice enough for us to get it out for a real walk and I was very pleased to discover that it maneuvers our rough gravel driveway easily and smoothly!

It is lighter and easier for me to push than our stroller over the rocks, and we have about 1/4 mile long driveway to brave before we get to asphalt for our walks, so this is a huge plus. I did not expect it to do well at all on the gravel!

Our two girls love the tricycle, but Papa and Mama are even more thrilled with how long it is going to last in our family! Katie is only 2 and just learning how to use pedals, so she will get years of use out of it still, and Victoria just thinks it’s a way-cooler alternative to her stroller at this point. She has no idea what fun is in store for her in the years to come!

It offers 4 ways to ride, to accommodate ages 9 months to 5 years: it easily converts from a stroller to a steering trike, learning-to-ride trike, and finally a classic trike. The 4-in-1 Trike has safety features for the youngest riders, including removable wrap-around safety bars with cupholder and snack tray, and a three-point hardness. The trike has quiet ride tires. The frame and adjustable seat ensure it will last for years.

The storage bin on the back is perfect for keeping my cell phone and keys or the 101 little things that Katie wants to take with her on our walks.

Features of the Ultimate Grow-With-Me Trike

  • Removable wrap around tray with cup holder to protect your child
  • Secure 3-point harness (removable)
  • Adult steer & stroll height adjustable push handle (removable)
  • Switches from pedals to foot rests
  • Comfortable headrest provides neck support (removable)
  • Adjustable grow-with-me seat
  • Unique stroller-style canopy with UV protection (removable)
  • Covered bin for parent or child storage
  • Quiet ride tires
  • Sturdy steel frame
  • 4-in-1 Trike

Here you can see Victoria getting a ride, and how easily it pushes through the gravel…even Katie can do it, (which she loves!)

Ever since Victoria was born, Katie has wanted to help push her stroller, but she’s never been tall enough. Which means Mama gets to try to hold a toddler up high enough to “help” while also trying to steer the stroller away from disaster. Very awkward to say the least.

Now with the Grow-With-Me tricycle, the steering handle is easily adjustable and I can quickly push it down to Katie’s height so that she can help.

If you still need a bigger present for your little people for Christmas, the Radio Flyer Ultimate Grow-With-Me Tricycle is a great option.

At $99.99, I truly believe this is well worth your money and a great value, especially when you consider the superior long-lasting quality and that it is suitable for such a wide age-range!

Can you please tell me if there is a “lock” on the kids steering wheel to prevent an excited toddler from jerking the wheels back and forth as the parent pushes? I had a Kettler trike years ago that had this–it was great–hoping to buy this as a 1 year old gift

It doesn’t exactly have a lock on the front steering, but the parent handles have complete steering power as well as the toddler handles. It is pretty easy to keep it on your planned route, even if the toddler is trying to take it somewhere else. A little extra resistance, but you won’t be weaving back and forth!

Hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions! :-)

Hi-i have been trying to find a review on this trike for ages. In Australia, it’s not stocked anywhere except online stores, and it’s one of the most expensive trikes, so before i commit to it, i’d really like to know what ‘quiet ride tires’ means? I’m hoping to get a trike with rubber wheels rather than plastic. Can you help me out, as i can’t seem to find any information on whether the tyres are rubber or plastic?

Thank you!
