Rubbermaid LunchBlox Review

by Janelle P on August 28, 2012

I have been a rather avid user of lunch containers for quite some time now. I got very sick of purchasing plastic baggies and running out in the middle of a lunch packing session (not to mention generating a lot of plastic baggie garbage).

Aside from my *splurge* on a fancy salad lunch set a few years ago, I have been making do with random containers I find around my kitchen.

Sadly, this has led to my poor husband having to carry a rather bulky lunch to work each day because I just don’t have the correct size containers to make everything fit together ¬†nicely. Enter Rubbermaid’s LunchBlox Sandwich Kit!

This kit actually comes inside a box, and the containers and Blue Ice can stack into a square shape to fit inside your standard lunch bag. They can also be stacked together a myriad of other ways if you prefer. The LunchBlox Sandwich Kit comes with one sandwich container that fits smaller and larger size breads, one medium size snack container, and two smaller size snack containers (all with lids of course), and Blue Ice to keep your tasty creations fresh until you can enjoy them.

I love that the containers are BPA free and can be used in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher without fear of melting or cracking. I also think it’s pretty neat that the containers and Blue Ice actually stack together so everything stays just where you want it. No more tower of containers falling over inside hubby’s lunch bag.

I was a bit skeptical that I could fit much into the smaller containers, but have found they work perfect for things like raisins, nuts, and salad dressing. The lids fit well and haven’t leaked which is a huge deal in my book. I also think it’s neat that the sandwich container fits the wider type breads. It used to drive me crazy having to smash a sandwich made with rectangular shaped bread into a container designed for a square piece of bread.

The Rubbermaid LunchBlox Sandwich Kit has made packing lunches much more pleasant for me (and I’m sure carrying them is much more pleasant for my husband). I typically don’t wind up stacking all of the containers together, but it is nice to have containers that fit together nicely even if I don’t use all of them at once.

You can purchase the LunchBlox Sandwich Kit for $12.99 at, Target, Safeway, and several other locations. Rubbermaid also makes other LunchBlox kits for entrees and salads which also fit together with the Sandwich kit containers.

Thanks for the review! I saw these at Target the other day and I was wonder how they “stacked up” (haha pun intended) They look super nice and easy to use, I love how you can mix and match and stack different ones together.
