“The days are long, but the years are short.”
I try to remember that quote during these days of constant toddler needs, sibling squabbles, potty training, middle-of-the-night feedings and diapers, diapers, and more diapers.
These days with three little people 3-years-old and under certainly can feel long to a sleep-deprived mama, but my word, the years are short.
Looking at this photo, I can hardly believe that it’s already been over 3 years since our little Katie was a tiny baby. I blinked, and now she’s acting the little mama to our third daughter.
So, today, I tossed out my mile-long to-do list, sat on the couch with my girls, and snuggled away the whole afternoon.
They’re growing up so fast, and I don’t want to miss it.

Awww, I’ve never heard that saying before, but it is so so true. I love that! And that is a sweet photo!
You are right to treasure these days. In many ways I wish I could have a do-over. <3
I love that quote. I will have to remember it when baby #2 is here and I am trying to be superwoman!

What a beautiful saying and so so true. And I know exactly what you mean… I can’t believe it’s been over four years since my oldest daughter was born and she is also a lil mama to the baby. I wish there was a way to slow down time, but until there is I will just enjoy each and every moment I get with these precious girls.

I think you did right tossing out the to-do list! It reminded me of this:
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow, But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep! I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep. – Ruth Hulbert Hamilton

Good for you. When the soul is satisfied, sleep is not such a huge thing. Treasure the moments while you can, for soon, you’ll be worrying where they are, how they are, and who they are becoming!

That is such a sweet picture. I wish mine were that little again. They are 14 and 13. It seems the days just flew by and I don’t know where they went. Soon they will be off to college. Sigh, enjoy them now

I’ve heard this saying as well, and its totally true. My kids are now 10, 8 and 4. When my kids were babies, people would tell me that the newborn/toddler stages go by so fast and to enjoy every moment. I did NOT think they were going fast at the time. Looking back, it was definitely because of sleep deprivation that the days seemed endless.
But, now that my oldest daughter is almost 11, she’s a tween!! It has zoomed by like the speed of light. Those people were right. So, like you, I try to enjoy the little moments with my kids every day and treasure them.
I only have one child, but even I will have to remember this quote-especially, when I’m wishing my 2 year old daughter will mature. I need to treasure her where she’s at right now.

Someone said this — I forget who — about parenthood, but it’s true of life as well. It’s hard to believe it but this year is drawing to a close.
My oldest girl is almost 17 and it is amazing how time has flown by! They grow up so quickly!
This is so true! Our oldest is 4.5 and it seems like she was born just yesterday, but in reality she is getting ready to head off to kindergarten soon.
I savor every minute I have with these little people.
Times goes by so fast I know. It feels like just yesterday I was having my first and now he is 13 years old and I have two more 12 and 7. I miss them being babys and just learning to walk, talk and you being their whole world. I wish I could have one more but sadly I can not so all I have are my memory’s. One day I will share with my kids their first and it will be just as magic as when they were so little!
So very true! Some days I am nearly in tears and can’t wait for my husband to come home… but then I look at my children and wonder where the time has gone. They grow up so fast. Your little girls are so precious. Thanks for sharing.
